My own Second Love
Share
One of the things I LOVE about my tiny shop are the conversations that i have with my customers, via email, socials and sometimes even telephone. Since relaunching earlier this month, I've been overwhelmed and humbled by our expanding offering in terms of trying to make the world a better place, and I wanted to elaborate on why I finally decided to follow my instinct and make these changes.
Iit took a few things happening to realise where I am really happy.
Cheribomb Retro has always been and always will be a haven for everyone who likes to wear dresses. Regardless of being size 8 or 32, or being 8 or 88. And while i realise that doesn't sound like much, I realised that in these dire economic times, that I was sick of chasing the sale. I am incredibly fortunate that I can look after me and mine, even with these crazy rising costs.
But while I was over here looking at inclusiveness there is so much fallout from the last couple of years, mental healthwise, in the community as a whole.
The planet.
Its people.
All of us.
I've been kicking around the idea of introducing Second Love and Giving Back to Cheribomb Retro for a couple of years now, because I have this innate need to give back, contribute to the health of our planet and her people, in whatever way I can.
But I just couldn't figure out the HOW. I wanted to ensure that my ethos, inclusivity, not exclusivity was followed, but I wanted to make other stuff better. And while I realise that my efforts here - one woman, a greyhound and a love of vintage style stuff are the smallest, tiniest drop in an enormous ocean, I had to do it.
So I decided to jump in with both feet and just do it, and Second Love was born.
Your first love is easy, until it's not and you learn so much along the way.
Your Second Love is often more significant, more real. You take those learnings and you apply them to I can't do much, I'm just one tiny micro business in an economy where we are reaching the point that financially we can't really help each other, as in donations, or time. We're just all struggling to get by.

But I can do this. This tiny seed.
